Black Fox Coffee
70 Pine St, New York, NY 10270, USA
Editor's Review
Black Fox Coffee is a New York gem you'll be pleased to stumble upon in the business-and-tourist-driven Financial District, a modern chic cafe tucked inside a fully remodelled Art Deco apartment building on Pine Street. Sleek dark wood, cement floors, and marble tables complement the artistic array of lights hanging from the high ceilings, and baristas rock denim and canvas aprons with newsboy caps and collared pinstripe shirts.
Here, coffee is not a side gig but a profession, and such is displayed on the coffee menu too. A committed multi-roaster, Black Fox Coffee has a good 4-5 different roasters at any time from renowned companies like Vancouver's 49th Parallel and Boston's George Howell (whom they worked with on their first custom blend) on constant rotation for both espresso and drip, as well as Australian roaster Small Batch, making it a chance to "tour" through the world's coffee scene. For espresso-milk drinks, the non-dairy alternative is a housemade almond milk, and iced beverages allow you to personalize your drink, whether you want your iced coffee via cold brew, nitro, or chilled filter.
A stacked brunch menu (the cafe is Aussie-owned, after all) of housemade items are brimming with egg dishes, and lunchtime is sandwich and salad-abundant. While the cafe's clientele may be bustling with businessfolk who also enjoy a good 'spro, this spot is definitely a destination for all coffee lovers alike.
