256 Rue Saint Honoré, 75001 Paris, France
Café Verlet is a slightly confusing café. This is not meant as a criticism. In a sense, it's confusing because it's surprisingly good. You would expect somewhere offering a wide range of single origin espresso coffee and blends, that doesn't serve a flat white, to be a bit of a fad. However, they really do seem to know their stuff.
It's a place that can cater to all kinds of coffee enthusiast (unless you only like drinking flat whites). The barista's - if you're drinking in - will sit you down at your table, ask you what kind of drink you would like, and then point you towards the best kind of bean for that drink. There's a lot of choice but the barista's seem to know what bean is best for your taste.
The best thing about the café is that it doesn't feel like a café, it has an almost olde English tea shop feel to it. Drinks are served up on silver trays and the cups are also very traditional. After you've finished, you can purchase the beans you used at the payment desk - it's very well-planned outlet and superbly executed.
