Chief Coffee

Turnham Green Terrace Mews, W4 1QU

Editor's Review

Heading out west used to mean lowering your coffee expectations. Fortunately, times have changed. Chief Coffee has raised the bar for quality in West London and head up a now thriving Chiswick coffee scene. You can expect quality coffee here, whether you choose espresso based drinks or a filter coffee made on their custom copper and wood Kalita Wave brew station, designed by Linnéus. Coffees are by London’s Workshop Coffee and Stockholm’s Drop Coffee and there are often guest roasters available as well. Sandwiches are made in-house, cakes and pastries provided by Rinkoff Bakery, and there is a wide selection of bespoke cold drinks as well as teas from Suki Teas and matcha from Lalani & Co.

Chief Coffee occupies a quiet mews and is very much a relaxed neighbourhood café, although an unusual one in combining coffee and pinball. Owner, Sam, has had a passion for pinball since childhood and a passion for coffee since living at one time in New York. Large windows provide natural light for the airy, spacious modern cafe while downstairs houses the pinball lounge.

Chief Coffee occupies the former site of the iconic Isokon Plus furniture company workshop and the space has remarkable potential. The café is a great addition to the area and I'm sure it will become a destination for London coffee tourists as well as locals, many of whom now have raised expectations of coffee in Chiswick.
