Milk Teeth

110 Mitcham Rd, London SW17 9NG, UK

Editor's Review

Opened in August 2017 five minutes from Tooting Broadway tube station, Milk Teeth, like its older sister Milk up the road in Balham, is a chic update to the café-cum-diner with exposed brick and an open kitchen. Something about the long thin room, strip lighting, speckled floor tiles and communal table at the far end (individual tables are available, but fill up quickly on weekends) gives off old school canteen vibes, exaggerated by neat silver trays on which the food is served.

The homegrown menu is similarly stripped back to basics, sourcing ingredients locally (e.g. fruit and veg from Hildreth Street Market and herbs forged from the banks of the River Wandle or grown underneath Clapham Common by Growing Underground) and from small farms, whereas the coffee is internationally roasted– you can find single origin espresso by Berlin’s The Barn and filter coffee by Sweden’s Koppi Coffee Roasters. If the caffeine doesn’t wake you up, the loud hip hop certainly will.
