278 St Vincent St, City Centre, Glasgow G2 5RL, UK
Down a set of stairs on St Vincent Street, a couple of spots down from the city’s legendary music venue King Tut’s, you’ll find one of Glasgow’s many cafes that pride themselves on their vegan food. Luckily for caffeine addicts, Primal Roast put as much effort into their coffee game too.
As well as using Glasgow staple Dear Green for their house blend, Primal Roast also put their feelers out across Scotland and the rest of the UK, looking for interesting small batch roasters to champion – Kinross’ Unorthodox Roasters, only established in 2016 but growing fast, are worth the visit alone. Primal Roast don’t just support small batch coffee producers – check out the Deer Oh Deer Maple and Sriracha Venison Jerky (Primal Roast do do more than solely vegan food).
Also, the cafe is deceptively large. On first look you might think that the only seats are the ones in view of the counter, with a couple outside. If they’re full, don’t be alarmed – Primal Roast has a large room in the back with a lot more seating, which doubles up as a pretty great workspace.
