The Project Café

134 Renfrew St, Glasgow G3 6ST, UK

Editor's Review

Glasgow’s reputation as a city for artists is well known, and it seeps out through every pore of Renfrew Street’s The Project Cafe, tucked between a fabric store and the Glasgow School of Art.

The Project Cafe has the air of a pop-up - regular poetry events and open mic nights, collaborations with local arts collectives, murals on the walls - and yet feels very composed, like you couldn’t imagine it anywhere else. Their coffee comes from another boutique Glasgow institution, Papercup. The grey concrete building they have made their home in is brightened up by plenty of flowers and herbs outside, making it one of Glasgow’s best places to sit when the weather’s behaving itself.

The local feel is matched by the cafe’s food options - all vegetarian or vegan. If you can’t get it in Scotland, you can’t get it in The Project Cafe - so, no avocado toast, but a daily changing menu of great salads, soup, hot food and cakes. A real balm for busy lives.
