Workshop Coffee White Collar Factory)

The ‘silicone roundabout’ in Old Street, traffic-scarred as it is, attracts modern workspaces and a large number of restaurants and cafes have opened in the vicinity. We can’t wait for the promised road improvements - TfL are working on proposals to make Old Street a more pedestrian and cycle-friendly environment. In the meantime, we’re delighted to see the opening of Workshop’s café inside the White Collar office building.

 

Actually, Workshop has two coffee bars here, but only the ground floor one, set in an expansive and impressive foyer, is open to the public. The basalt-topped tiled bar draws the eye and the Workshop branding is strong and even classic. There’s a choice of batch brew and a choice of single origin espresso options. Both options are consistently excellent. The seating is provided by the White Collar building and quite wonderful. It’s quite easy to spend considerable time here.

The space takes inspiration from the work of self-taught French architect and designer, Jean Prouvé, to which there are references throughout the building, from its factory-like finish, to the green colour palette throughout. Food options include a selection of pastries, breakfast pots, freshly made sandwiches and sweet treats. Head through the revolving building doors into the expansive foyer and head towards the Workshop sign.
