Box Kite
128 W 72nd St New York, NY 10023
Editor's Review
This tiny café on West 72nd Street is a proud multi-roaster—in fact, they will tell you they were the original New York City cafe to feature a rotating selection of high-end beans (presumably at their now-defunct East Village location; this one is the second iteration of Box Kite.) And though you never know just what they will be brewing at Box Kite, you can pretty much rest assured it will be high quality and delicious.
The options change weekly and even daily, but there is always a great mix of single-origin espresso on offer, as well as Colson pastry, and usually some whole beans as well. Not much else really, except a narrow counter, a few places to charge your phone, and some friendly coffee banter – these guys are serious coffee nerds, that much is for sure. It's just a sliver of a spot on a busy through street on the Upper West Side, but whether you are dashing to the train or taking a leisurely stroll towards Central Park, if you like well-made espresso drinks, it's definitely worth a stop at Box Kite.
