Good & Proper Tea
96a Leather Lane, EC1N 7TX
Editor's Review
Here at London’s Best Coffee we enjoy great tea too so we love it when we find a teahouse as lovely as this branch of Good & Proper on Leather Lane. Emilie started her tea business with a converted Citroen in 2012 and now has tea bars in Clerkenwell and Farringdon. We first became aware of their teas at Kerb Kings Cross. After experiencing so many cafes treating tea as an afterthought, Emilie wanted to offer tea drinkers the same quality and variety that coffee drinkers take for granted. For that purpose, they find & curate a collection of single origin teas, custom brewed on an Alphadominche Steampunk Mod 4.
Good & Proper is a very relaxing space and time can feel like it stands still after you order at the counter and retire to the back room. The Steampunk looks very high tech and allows the staff to brew the tea exactly to specifications. Somewhat surprisingly, they also offer coffee – rotating roasters – currently Workshop – brewed on a Clever Dripper. They also offer cold brew teas and a full iced tea menu in summer. Hot chocolate is by Mast Brothers and cold brew coffee by Sandows. Food options include granola, cakes and sausage rolls - all made downstairs and most notably their sourdough crumpets with sweet & savoury toppings, again, all made in house.
