Hommage is a real gem hidden just a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the main Cologne shopping streets. It's small but perfectly formed and it's a real treat to have a coffee in its almost spiritual space. The ceiling above the bar is – almost – reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel.

The coffee also makes Hommage worth a visit; the cakes are mouth-watering and the food is prepared in a slightly open kitchen, which is mesmerizing to watch. The food is made lovingly and you can be sure that it's made with carefully sourced produce. There are no toilets inside but you can use those of the brewery on the other side of the road. If you want good coffee, wonderful staff and a beautifully rustic setting, Hommage is the place for you.
