On my Sunday visit, I find M1lk (or Milk), an explosion of caffeinated activity on an unexpected corner of Bedford Hill, buzzing with locals nursing hangovers in the best way possible. Coffee from Workshop is excellent with the promise of a regular supply of Koppi beans to come, and the food menu is a lesson in brunch classics with some fantasticly fun twists - try such inspired specials as brisket with monster munch and a coffee infused sauce or deep fried egg with asparagus and miso butter.

The interior is a fabulously quirky mash up of retro kitsch with the macabre. this takes the form of eerily dismembered dolls heads which is also the cafe's cheerily sinister logo. M1lk is a true neighbourhood cafe in the same vein as Tina We Salute You and Lantana.
