Peregrine Espresso — Eastern Market
660 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003, USA
Editor's Review
Peregrine Espresso simply is DC coffee. The tried and true small chain, beginning with the 2009 opening of the Eastern Market location, is still one of our nation's capital's finest. With coffee from Counter Culture, chocolate from Taza, and tea from Rishi, not to mention other long-term vendors, Peregrine hasn't changed much over the years. Its bright interior, high ceilings, and plentiful outdoor seating make it an inviting spot to grab your coffee.
The Fetco is dialed in and fresh for those on the run and Bee House ceramic coffee drippers are on hand for those who are willing to wait, but if you can manage to find a free seat, sit for a minute and enjoy a cortado. Warm-not-hot Trickling Springs milk and a more traditionally roasted espresso from Counter Culture don't make for a mind-blowing coffee experience, but are reliably good every time. Peregrine doesn't strive to be your occasional extravagant coffee treat—it's your great everyday coffeeshop.
