Rocket
41 Morningside Rd, Edinburgh EH10 4DR, UK
Editor's Review
Morningside is one of Edinburgh’s most picturesque areas, descending south from the Meadows, with the great vantage point of Blackford Hill on the skyline. Home to cute indie boutiques, and Edinburgh’s beautiful Dominion Cinema, you can break up a day’s exploring at Rocket Cafe, right on the high street.
From the outside, Rocket Cafe has an old fashioned look, almost like a traditional greasy spoon, or similar. Its simple, vintage aesthetic and forest green tiling are weirdly comforting in a world of repurposed pianos and exercise equipment. Their focus is espresso based coffees, with beans coming from Artisan Roast – a sure fire sign of quality in Edinburgh.
Make sure you leave with one of their traybakes too. Made in-house, they change often and are incredibly inviting perched upon the counter, with much of what’s on offer begin either vegan or gluten free, as is much of their lunch and breakfast menu too. Proudly independent, proudly local, you’d be more than happy to have Rocket on your doorstep.
