Indonesian coffees are known for their natural deep earthy characteristics. Normally this wouldn’t be my go to choice for a coffee but this one has a sweetness that makes it a very interesting coffee pod and a nice change from normally going for the fruitiest or funkiest coffee available. This coffee is sweet with a really mild spice and would work really well with agave based spirits.
Roastworks Coffee - Takengon Sumatra - Recyclable Coffee Pods
Roastworks came about when the owner, who got sick of the hustle and bustle of busy city life in London, moved back to Devon, bought a small coffee roasting machine and embarked upon a new venture. In truth, his journey with coffee beans started a long time before this. As the son of two artisan coffee roasters, he already knew a lot about coffee and the science behind roasting. His parents began roasting in the late eighties at the peak of the second wave as coffee became more than just a caffeine hit. Roastworks was inspired by industry giants like Monmouth and Square Mile and is very much based on the principles of third wave coffee. Roastworks has continued to expand and is now available at Waitrose, Wholefoods, Ocado and many other independent shop and cafes.
Roastworks have selected an exceptional and well suited coffee for this coffee pod. It’s a Sumatran coffee that lends itself very well to espresso and even more so to being a Christmassy coffee that will definitely get you feeling festive. They use 100% aluminium capsules which are fully recyclable. As always, remember to empty out any coffee grinds before you recycle. Roast works have done a great job with the packaging for their coffee capsules range with relevant information provided.
This coffee pod is from the Gegarang village. In the village, 46 members each grow their own organic coffee on a small lot of around one hectare at an altitude of 1600 to 1800 metres above sea level. This coffee has big body and acidity to match.

Notes Coffee - Christmas Espresso - Compostable Coffee Pods
Notes, a collection of coffee shops and bars, have 11 different locations spread across London. They serve their own speciality roasted coffee, craft beer, wine and cocktails. Additionally, seasonally inspired food is available throughout the day, with both sit in and take away options.
They take great care to provide the best coffee they possibly can. Their owner and head roaster, Fabio Ferreira, said, "Our coffee beans are always direct trade straight from farmers, who take as much care in nurturing their coffee plants, as we do roasting and brewing our beans".
Notes have chosen a coffee that enCAPsulates a traditional Christmassy coffee, see what I did there? They have chosen a washed Bolivian coffee that has a lot going for it. It has acidity and sweetness as well as a strong body. This coffee pod will hold its flavour through milk and sugar that might well be added by your family members or friends over the festive season who are not so into specialist coffee!! This coffee capsule reminds me of the caramel chocolate flavours from a mars bar and some hazelnut.
Altitude: 1500 metres above sea level
Taste notes: Chocolate and marzipan
