From the outside, Eden Locke Café & Bar looks a bit more like a high end hotel than a quiet coffee shop. There’s a good reason for that - the main building is that of Eden Locke, a selection of luxury serviced apartments. However, whereas some hotel bars can feel a little sterile, this is open, bright, and a really lovely find.

Situated more towards the west end of George Street, the cafe’s immediate neighbours are more likely to be bars and restaurants. The Assembly Rooms are a short walk away - a popular

Conference and events venue, as well as one of the principle hives of activity during the Fringe, making Eden Lock Café & Bar a good place to grab a quick coffee before a show. Delicious doughnuts and excellent pastries are supplied by the fast growing bakery of Twelve Triangles, with more food supplied by another Edinburgh institution: Grams.

The decor in the café itself is very high end, with the furniture incredibly well styled. The low tables aren’t terribly conducive to a work environment, unless you want to crouch down over a laptop, but the environment is very tranquil, very modern - it feels like somewhere you could stay a while.
