Minderbroedersrui 30, 2000 Antwerpen, Belgium
A little north of the historic centre of Antwerp is Normo, a specialty coffee shop that has taken eclectic interior design to another level. If you filled a large pinnate with coffee and brewing equipment, then exploded it in a large, rustic double fronted shop you’d get a feel for the layout of this café.
Whilst a little more ramshackle than some may prefer, there are some fun touches like the self serve nitro pump (don’t pull too quickly) and a selection of filter roasts dangling above the V60s of their brew bar. The huge window fronts would make any bookshop jealous, and the mix of benches, tables, and seating in this huge space allows you to sit back and spend some time without feeling you’re taking up space.
Normo doubles up as a micro roaster and this is a great place to sample coffee where the full chain of coffee production is clear; the team behind Normo enjoy sharing their coffee journey and have a demonstrable passion for taking green coffee beans and crafting them into something you’ll savour.
