Amethyst is one of the most respected cafes amongst American coffee professionals, and for good reason. They popularized (if not outright created) the "any coffee any way you like it" service style—where guests can choose from any of the four coffees on offer, usually two from Commonwealth Coffee and two from a guest roaster, and have them made as either a filter coffee or espresso-based drink. Even with this progressive serving style, hospitality is at the heart of what owner Elle Jensen and her team strive for. In the clean yet inviting space, Jensen and her seasoned staff have created an inclusive atmosphere for all members of the community. You need not be a coffee geek to feel welcome at Amethyst. But if you are, you owe it to yourself to make the trip.
