Baddies

679 Lansdowne Ave, Toronto, ON M6H 3Y9, Canada

Editor's Review

Coffee culture is very different in Australia. For the grab and go filter coffee preferences of many North American customers, the idea of sitting down to a proper meal while enjoying a coffee is a strange concept. But why should you have to sacrifice the quality of your breakfast or lunch just to get a good coffee? Or vice versa? In one of the best industry trends to come from our Commonwealth brethren, Toronto is finally starting to see an influx of Australian-influenced cafés, and Baddies is up there with the best of them.

If you didn’t recognise the style of the shop itself, or catch the accent of owner Alex White, the Australian connection is clear with design accents like the custom wallpaper depicting Bondi Beach. They have made fantastic use of the space, managing to fit multiple tables along the sizeable front windows. For more casual seating, a cleverly placed steel bleacher sits at the back if you are looking to enjoy a quick drink.

The unassuming kitchen is tucked into the corner of the room and consistently provides delicious and beautiful menu items. Their Avo Smash Toast and Brekky Roll are established favourites, but rotating options like the current Chicken Schnitty Burger absolutely make this place worth going back to more than once. The only thing customers could be understood for complaining about is the fact that they aren’t open Sundays. Well lucky for them, that looks to be changing very soon.
