Bar Nine has been a Culver City staple since long before this neighborhood's transformation into the Arts District of West Los Angeles. This local roaster is located in Hadyen Tract, an area that's now a major business park, with all walks of creatives and tech folks rolling through for coffee breaks in between coding and brand strategizing meetings. 

Founded by Zayde Naquib, who ran a coffee installation at MOCA 's Mike D-curated Transmission LA exhibit, Bar Nine is for the true coffee afficionado thanks to the namesake's reference to an espresso machine's bars of pressure, as well as its simply supreme coffee quality—you'll find Panamas and rare seasonal blends on the regular. With this in mind, menu items are a little pricier, and you won't find a tip jar—gratuity is included in your bill.  

The ruggedly industrial warehouse serves as both café and roasting space, where you can gawk at the massive Probat in action or watch drinks brewed on one of the first Modbars in Los Angeles. Despite its spacious interior, keep in mind that there's essentially no ventilation in this space. Because it's LA, you'll probably be fine sitting on one of their crates outdoors instead.
