Bentwood
237 Napier St, Fitzroy VIC 3065, Australia
Editor's Review
Burnt orange tonesof colour set the scene for a different look cafe; moving away from the minimalist hue range of late. This gives some personality and warmth to Bentwood, while terracotta flooring make it seem like you have stepped into Southern Europe. A constant theme running through the space, right down to the powder coat San Remo Racer and grinders.
Down an art covered side street of Fitzroy, Bentwood entices those looking to get away from the main arteries and crowds from the nearby buzzing Fitzroy quarter. A well-tailored seasonal menu, a variety of drinks and the main feature of beverages, Inglewood Roasters coffee streaming on espresso and filter. A seemingly quiet street, upon entrance the encasing white noise and energy assure you’re in for a great experience. Greeted with a "Hey! How's it going?" The great customer service is noticeable from the moment you enter.
Back to the colour scheme and set up: the bar runs long, continuing to a communal table that feels involved in the hustle of the bar and kitchen, but also gives great ambience and flow. It opens up to natural light and scenery looking out on to the street, pleasantly feeling incorporated into the venue itself. Soft leather seating look and feel great for a relaxed stay. You cant help but admire the ceiling and overall design. Get there.
