Summerhill is where it all started for Boxcar Social. This cafe—now effectively their flagship—was labour of love, as most of the construction was completed by the owners themselves. The effort paid off as they have created a stunning café at any hour of the day or time of year, and now boast several locations around Toronto.  

Since day one the focus here has been on serving food and drink at a high level. The coffee program is only one element of their business, as at night they transition seamlessly into a bar serving a full lineup of beer, wine, and whiskey. In late 2017, they were able to partner with Yeah Yeahs Pizza from Nova Scotia to open a location next door, and now serve their pizza and salads in the café.

The back patio is as nice of a place as any in the city to enjoy the sunshine and the additional seating upstairs has incredibly cozy vibes. Boxcar often hosts public cuppings in this space, so not only do they have an incredible amount of offerings on their menus, but they also offer many ways to experience this lovely café.
