Brooklyn Roasting Company — Navy Yard
200 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11205
Editor's Review
This large, sunny cafe sits just across the street from the now-bustling Brooklyn Navy Yard, and it is usually filled with the mix of artists, craftspeople and other workers who make the yard hum. They don't have a kitchen, but there are lots of options for both breakfast and lunch; if Wylie Dufresne's Du Donut's don't tempt you, there are numerous other pastries on offer, and a cold case stocks premade wraps and salads from Lassen & Hennigs, kombucha, fancy soft drinks, fruit, and more.
It's a great stop to grab and go an espresso drink or one of the multiple drip coffee options, plus they always have a full selection of Brooklyn's locally roasted (obviously) iconic cans of beans from around the globe to take home for later. But this spacious spot is also great for a meeting, or to catch up on work, and despite brisk business, there is usually a quite corner available. A few years ago, this area was positively dead, but Brooklyn Roasting now seems like an anchor in a vibrant neighborhood on the move.
