Brother Baba Budan

359 Little Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

Editor's Review

Taking its name from the man Baba Budan himself, who, it is believed, risked smuggling out seven seeds of coffee from Yemen to India in the 17th century and introduced it into the daily rituals of many today, Brother Baba Budan is one of the very first truly great specialty cafés in Melbourne.
Centrally located in Melbourne Central Business District, it is a go-to for many office workers, shoppers and casuals alike with great quality, speedy service.

The venue is more for takeaways because of limited seating (unless you can defy gravity and sit upside down on the ample amount stuck to the ceiling), but the espresso bar is the perfect place to sneak in a good 10-15 minute sit-down before you continue to venture out into the city or head back into the office. Baba Budan brought us coffee and the café of his name offers an escape from one's daily routine, some great tunes and atmosphere and, obviously, very good coffee.
