Kasteelstraat 57, 2000 Antwerpen, Belgium
First off, it’s not a Butchers anymore.
Butchers Coffee is a little South of the Grote Market, but worth a wander south for. Its expansive front terrace squares off onto one of the main routes into the city centre (but not noisily so), and whilst you’ll see morning commuters hopping on and off, you will also find it very easy to get to on a city bike.
Locals seem to gravitate towards this coffee shop from all directions like there is some coffee-force in the universe. Walking up, greeting the team running the shop like old friends and then meandering off with a coffee.
It’s a great place with a clear passion for coffee (sourced from Caffénation) that is very well executed, and the food is a level up from what you’d expect from an independent coffee shop.
The coffee was a little slower to arrive than most places, but if you’re visiting Antwerp you are probably not in too much of a rush, and the calming terrace and coffee will make the wait worthwhile.
Cash only, no decaf.
