Cafe DS is part of De School, a nightclub in Amsterdam. It also has a space setup as a café and a restaurant. It's out of the centre and, once you're in the area, it's not the easiest place to find - look out for an advert for lager sticking out from the wall.

The interior is great; it's bright, open, and you can see pretty much everything that's going on in the restaurant, including the cooking. There's ample seating if you're a big party and you can get brunch and lunch as well as a good selection of hot and cold drinks.

If you're extemely geeky about your coffee, it's probably not going to be worth hunting out but the coffee is roasted locally and it's great if you're a tourist staying in the area. The cheese toasties are great.
