Caravan (Bankside)
30 Great Guildford Street, SE1 0HS
Editor's Review
Caravan’s third and latest branch, just south of Southwark Bridge, is stunning in its concept and execution. As a restaurant, it builds on the familiar favourites and friendly, efficient service typified by its pioneering Kings Cross location. There’s a beautiful long bar that features a range of drinks including cocktails and an exciting offer of soft drinks: kombucha, shrubs (drinking vinegars) and sodas.
An eye catching Faema E71 espresso machine, replete with Caravan’s logo, serves up their crowd pleasing Daily Blend espresso and a single origin option. There is batch brew filter from a Fetco XTS 2042 - 2x 1 gallon brewer together with Chemex and v60 filters using Marco SP9 brewers.
This is a wonderful location with great hospitality, food and drink. The large space was converted from three offices, restoring many of the original 19th Century features of the old metal box factory. It’s a large and elegant setting, and one you can visit for an early morning coffee as well as suiting brunch, lunch and dinners.
