City of Saints Coffee Roasters
297 Meserole St, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA
Editor's Review
City of Saints, a great local coffee company with a couple of cafes in the area, does all of their roasting in this gritty Bushwick warehouse, where they pull delicious espresso for a stream of local artists and neighborhood regulars at the small bar in the front. This block is like a movie set of an edgy Brooklyn enclave, with working warehouses and industrial fabricators butting up against artists' lofts, glassy new developments, trendy bars, and downtrodden bodegas.
And while City of Saints definitely draws an arty young crowd, they are friendly and welcoming, and you are almost as likely to wait in line behind a sweaty ironworker as you are a paint-splattered "creative" wearing $600 boots. The offerings here are pretty basic – espresso, pour=over, “regular” coffee and cold brew on tap, plus a few tea options, and a homemade soda “for the young’uns.” They have a small pastry case, with selections from Doughnut Plant, Roberta’s (the legendary pizza restaurant and bakery which is just a stone’s throw from here), and cookies from L'impremerie, another great Bushwick locale.
