Coal Rooms
11a Station Way, Station, 4RX, Peckham Rye, London SE15, UK
Editor's Review
As you might’ve guessed by the name, Coal Rooms is in an old railway station building, yet despite the large tall windows and high ceilings, it is remarkably cosy. As a café/bar/restaurant distinguished by separate rooms, the menus are full of temptation, but if you’re just going for the coffee, visit in the quieter hours between lunch and dinner and you’ll find a chilled haven amongst the buzz of Peckham.
It is owned by Peckham’s own Old Spike Roastery so it’s no surprise that the coffee is top quality, and you can purchase Old Spike beans that have been sourced from Kenya or Rwanda but roasted down the road. Although it’s conveniently located almost inside the current Overground station, it’s not the kind of place you’ll want to quickly grab a take away coffee – the atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed and you’ll just want to stay and soak it up. Just be careful not to miss your train.
