Coffee Company
Oosterdokskade 137, 1011 DL Amsterdam, Netherlands
Editor's Review
Coffee Company debuted in 1996, on the Amsterdam retail boulevard known as Leidsestraat. ‘Pioneering’ is one word describe its co-founders, who successfully imported the service-oriented specialty coffee standards they experienced in New York and London while adding their own Dutch touch. A flat white was on the menu long before some present-day baristas were old enough to be jonesin for java.
Opened in summer 2013, CC Oosterdok became the interior-design blueprint for new and/or renovated Coffee Company branches and franchises across the Netherlands. The cafe is just a sashay away from Centraal Station and neighbours the stately city library. It holds a special place in the heart of local coffee pros, offering the widest assortment of single-origin coffees, straight from the roastery, and employing some of the country’s finest baristas. Uncoincidentally, for years, CC Oosterdok hosted the Dutch AeroPress Championship, a grassroots barista competition, which grew popular enough among its public audience to outgrow the space (though only in size, not spirit).
