Today, a lot of Los Angeles barista legends can say they've been nurtured professionally by Yeekai Lim, the architect-turned-coffee-genius behind Cognoscenti Coffee. Lim got his start with a mobile coffee cart that did a long stint within Atwater Village's Proof Bakery before finding a true home in Culver City's Arts District.

With three locations now, their South Park café keeps a consistent interior design with a posh blend of industrial cements, marble counters, and exposed ceiling. A separated wooden bar space completes the look, and massive glass windows allow natural light to flood into this café, creating a warm atmosphere despite its otherwise chic elements.

As for your caffeine fix, Cognoscenti hooks it up with different roasters for every brew style, their own beans included, from V60 to espresso and filter.
