By and large, the most exciting coffee spots in Denver shade towards the downtown area and west. But in the small industrial space in Northeast Park Hill, Commonwealth is still flying the flag for the east side. Their small industrial cafe and roastery is as intimiate as it is no frills; the line between the cafe side and the roasting side is demarked by a row of green coffee, and you are unlikley to find more than two staff members—one roasting and one behind bar—working at a given time. But in the quiet times between roasting batches, it's easy to strike up a conversation with the barista on staff and even upon the first visit, begin to feel like a regular.
