Curio Cabal
258 Kingsland Rd, Haggerston, E8 4DG
Editor's Review
In the heart of Haggerston, Curio Cabal is a place with big ambition. It’s on the corner of Kingsland Road where all sorts of people come through –it’s an inclusive café that allows a space for locals to socialise and relax but also manages workspaces for local small businesses such as the brilliant Lois and the Living Teas and Good Beans cold brew - both Lois' kombucha and Good Beans' coffee are available in the cafe. Previously Curio Cabal has featured Monmouth and Alchemy but currently the café are proud to work with Square Mile. As well espresso based drinks, is available vis clever dripper and v60 as well as espresso based drinks they hand brew filter coffee using V60 using beans from Colonna, a roastery run by Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood in Bath. They offer Colonna's coffee on retail as well.
The food menu has constantly been expanded from your normal coffee shop fare of sandwiches and bites to include a more brunch type, sit-down kind of menu, full breakfasts, quinoa fritters on kale and poached eggs. The menu is further expanded to include a high end type of "sharing plates" for the evening in the form of TA TA. TA TA is a restaurant run by Zijun Meng and Ana Gonçalves that uses the space in the evenings. Both worked previously with Nuno Mendes and offer a menu that has been described as a sort of high-end Asian tapas, with the odd Portuguese influence.
