Nestled into Saigon’s expat enclave on a small neighbourhood road, Dolphy Café 2 is veiled behind green leaves and sweeping branches. Stepping through the small alcove creates an immediate sense of tranquillity; earthy décor, high ceilings with shafts of natural light pouring through onto high-reaching plants and a gentle breeze from the ceiling fans. Dolphy is Saigon’s very own back garden away from the swirl of the city.

One of three Dolphy’s now established in Thao Dien, the menu offers a mixture of espresso-based drinks, local Vietnamese coffee and fresh juices. The espresso is exceptional. Glimpses of the Dolphy staff practising their latte art in-between service and showing intricate care with each cup, creates a sense of worth when the drink is finally placed in front of you. An unusual house blend split between Robusta and Arabica directly sourced from the highlands of Cau Dat and Buon Me Thuot; you can really taste something different from the rest.
