DUBPies
211 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215
Editor's Review
Pull up one of DUB ("Down Under Bakery") Pies' five seats and settle into this cozy corner for a meat pie and a Flat White while the "bustle" of Park Slope goes past. As charming and unpretentious as it is small, this Aussie cafe does a fantastic job with Counter Culture Coffee, and truly delicious savory pies. Mince and steak options may be at the top of the menu, but there are various chicken fillings and a couple of veggie options too – egg and cheese is always on the menu, and specials like the curry vegetarian are common, and delicious. Finish with a housemade Anzac biscuit, an oat and sugar cookie that is popular down under, or better yet an ice cream sandwich made with Ample Hills vanilla, and of course, another coffee!
Battenkill Valley Creamery milk and a long list of tea options show that these Aussies are serious about their drinks. Though they are surrounded by bars on this cute corner just off Prospect Park, and while the pies would be perfect for late-night munchies, they close too early for the afterparty – the focus is on the coffee, and a small lunch crowd. Stock up on Marmite and Vegemite while you're here, or grab a cold brew growler to go.
