Run by former pro-cyclist Christian Meier and his wife Amber, who also own La Fabrica in the beautiful city of Girona, Espresso Mafia is a superb café offering a wide range of drinking options, served by well-informed, friendly staff. Coffee comes from the onsite roastery and can be tried via Aeropress, Kalita, V60, or batch brew – there's also a tasting menu option that will give you three varities of coffee served three ways. 

The café itself glistens white inside – it looks more like a laboratory with some tastefully arranged greenery and a wall of coffee beans and brewing kit – but the ambience is far from cold, in large part due to the charming baristas who are more than happy to stand and chat coffee, or dispense welcome advice on where to visit in the city itself. There is some seating inside, and more in a shaded arcade area outside, perfect for watching the world go by at a leisurely pace. Food options are limited to a few sweet things – if you want to eat, try Espresso Mafia's sister café La Fabrica – but this place is all about serving great coffee in wonderfully stylish surroundings. There's a lot to recommend about Girona, and Espresso Mafia is right up there for reasons to visit.
