Editor's Review

Federal is a cosy, little café serving Ozone and all day brunches (until six pm) including omelettes, corn fritters with bacon or smoked salmon, and sandwiches. There's also a full range of cocktails and craft beers. Just across the road from the Arndale Centre, and near the tram stop, it's easy to find and there's enough space to plot up and enjoy some coffee and food before hitting the Northern Quarter, which it's on the edge of, or the massive Arndale. 

There's a very laid-back feel here, with warm, chatty staff and, if you fancy it, there's some outdoor seating, though the street can get quite busy.
