Fig + Sparrow
20 Oldham St, Manchester M1 1JA, UK
Editor's Review
Fig and Sparrow is situated on Oldham Street, just off the busy thoroughfare of Market Street and within walking distance of both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria train stations. The café has developed a loyal following which includes students, creative professionals and commuters, all seeking a little quiet surrounded by the busy streets of central Manchester.
The two main facets of Fig and Sparrow are the quality coffee, and the wide selection of cakes and pastries on offer to those looking for something sweet in the Northern Quarter of the city. Given the breadth of choices available, each area is given its own counter, with real dedication given to homemade brownies. There is also a compact, but excellent, brunch menu of sandwiches and avocado on toast, made using locally sourced ingredients. The retail section is also far more extensive than other similar offerings, with plenty for coffee lovers to buy, but also candles, cards, gifts and household knick knacks on offer.
