Giddy Up (Giant)
200 Aldersgate St, EC1A 4HD
Editor's Review
Lee Harte has been a key London coffee pioneer since there were only a handful of speciality coffeeshops in London, once forming half of a great coffee double act at Pitch 42 in Whitecross Market. After working in many cafes and helping many others set up, Lee founded his Giddy Up cart in 2011, initially in Fortune Park, a stone’s throw from that Whitecross Market Stall, Lee opened up a number of other coffee carts in a range of locations. This location, as I’m sure the baristas appreciate is actually a permanent indoor set-up inside GIANT Cycles’ Barbican/St Pauls store.
It’s an especially attractive design, set out in deep blue and white using the eye-catching nature-based illustrative designs of former Giddy Up barista ‘Inklinewolves’ now resident in New Zealand. Furniture is by the brilliant jamfurniture. The coffee is always good. We recommend The Giddy Up which pairs a single espresso with a single cortado. There’s also a range of drinks and a batch brew filter. The muffins here are widely regarded – not least the banana and Nutella muffin.
From 17th September there will be SCAEUK Certified training by Amir from Iran on Saturdays. Amir will teach foundation and intermediate level barista courses.
