Gold Drops
183 Little Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
Editor's Review
Making an effort to stand out in central Melbourne can be a difficult thing with the abundance of great destinations. Gold Drops has chosen to go with using purely naturally processed coffee, to showcase the versatility of specialty coffee and open up the conversation for process methods. Being very specific and limited on beans used, the focus is thus on brew methods and delivering an excellent cup, full of big flavours, creating a unique offering that people will travel for. Naturally processed coffees can tend to be a lot sweeter and fruitier than washed coffees, referring to the process in which the coffee cherries once picked are fermented and laid out to dry, but we’ll let these guys explain it.
Not to be overlooked is the rare and remarkable tea selection sourced and handpicked from Australian Tea Masters. It's a vast selection, displayed like an apothecary behind a long brew bar in a space designed by Gordon Tankosic to reflect the diverse surroundings of Melbourne retail, coffee culture and Italian espresso bar. Communal seating by the window or by the brew bar give an intimate and open experience. Pastries on offer from Melbourne’s finest, including some from owners homeland of Argentina.
