Given the somewhat bleak nature of the street it’s on (as many construction sites as shops themselves), this Gregorys outpost is surprisingly lovely inside: high ceilings with displays of growlers, plants, and a variety of cool ephemera; extensive seating both at high tables up front and actual diner-style booths in the spacious back of the shop; mellow lighting; and an atmosphere that’s both bustling and chill. T

he menu encompasses all that you’d want from a Gregorys: AeroPress, espresso and brewed-coffee options, of course, but also the house’s spin on golden mylk (as well as chocolate and activated-charcoal mylks), a few toast-with-spread choices that are a cut above the usual, gluten-free granola, yogurts ready to go, and the local chain’s larder of pastries and sweets. An added bonus is the 6 train’s 33rd Street station, mere steps away.
