A sunny, pleasing shop in the heart of revitalized Logan Square, this outpost of the local-born, national roaster is one of its most charming. The space, right along Milwaukee Avenue, is used creatively: a U-shaped bar forefronts the quality coffee preparation the chain is known for, while also allowing a casual-intimate interaction between barista and patron, as well as seatmate to seatmate. (Light-bathed window seating is also available for those who like to be a little further from the action.) On offer are Intelligentsia's well-known single origin and blended coffees, Kilogram teas, upscale donuts and similar pastries—as well as an espresso milkshake exclusive to this location, which you should not miss. A parkette-style area on the sidewalk out front is available for customers (and/or their dogs) to enjoy on Chicago's more pleasant weather days. Overall, one of the best cafes from one of the city's best coffee companies.
