Irving Farm Coffee Roasters — Lower East Side
88 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002
Editor's Review
With a small chain of locations throughout most of Manhattan, Irving Farm has been cozying-up New York City's specialty coffee scene since the ‘90s. This sunny corner spot, dripping with elements of New York charm, has huge windows (which swing open in nice weather) for natural lighting, which makes it a lovely people-watching venue at the corner of Orchard and Broome – an area bursting with tiny, aesthetically pleasing shops and eateries left and right. The downstairs basement provides a hideout for working or a more intimate coffee date; rustic woods, dim lighting, and red brick ceilings take you back to the underground worlds of the Lower East Side's past century.
Formerly a neighborhood cafe known as 88 Orchard (which served Irving Farm coffee) this renovated space has now been reborn as an actual Irving Farm cafe, serving their own roasts alongside savory, housemade foods like sandwiches and salads, egg-heavy breakfasts and granola. For a lighter pairing that may be just as carbtastic, grab a pastry from local bakers like Erica's Kitchen while you sip on something from the espresso or drip menus, or a rotating single-origin pour-over.
