Johan & Nyström (Swedenborgsgatan)

Johan & Nyström are a big name in the Swedish speciality scene, expanding across Sweden at an ambitious rate whilst generously supporting the speciality coffee community here. They have their most colourful and brightest cafe on the southern Isle of Södermalm, set in a quiet street which is turned entirely into outdoor seating for the Swedish summer months. The store is an explosion of colour with wonderful floor to ceiling shelving full of tea and coffee gear. 
 
Upon entering your eye is immediately drawn by the incredible custom design for the back of their black eagle. Johan & Nyström serve their own sourced and roasted range of speciality coffee, with both filter and espresso based menus. Filter options include a choice of hand brewed filter in the form V60, Chemex, or Aeropress. Their coffee offerings change seasonally and often include special edition micro lots with beans and brew kit available to buy in store. 
 
This case has plenty of interior spaces on several levels with cosy nooks and crannies to cosy up with a friend for a chat or to read a book. They also have an impressive round brew bar at which one can sit and observe the brewing process. This cafe also carries an impressive array of pastries, sweet treats, and sandwiches to enjoy with your coffee. Their cinnamon bun, or ‘kanelbulle’ is particularly good. We highly recommend arriving early on a weekend and finding a cosy perch on which to enjoy a few pages of your latest book.
