Kaffabar
Place Rouppe 1, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium
Editor's Review
On a sunny day, sitting outside Kaffabar is hard to beat in central Brussels. Overlooking the stunning fountain of Place Rouppe, this coffee shop is a little off the day-to-day tourist trail, but anyone arriving in to Gare du Midi on the Eurostar (other train services are available). The café takes up more square footage than you'd expect from a specialty coffee shop, and the large inside area is matched by an outdoor terrace complete with deckchairs to watch the world go by.
The coffee is roasted by Kaffabar, and it's good. A range of options and enthusiastic advice will help even the most timid coffee drinker find something that fits. True to the Belgian reputation, there's a hot chocolate menu almost as long as the coffee menu.
It doesn't fit the mould of the majority of specialty places, and it's refreshing to to experience a professional and considered team.
Kaffabar, almost literally, has a drink option to suit everyone and if you time it right, you'll get to enjoy the team shrugging knowingly as the resident bulldog seems to howl at the moon.
