Kapow Coffee
46 The Calls, Leeds LS2 7EW, UK
Editor's Review
This smaller Kapow is in The Calls, part of the network of streets north of the river but south of the city centre. The area has a strong creative vibe, home to design agencies, architects, and other creative industries, and the area as a whole is seeing significant redevelopment around the Waterfront area. This means that Kapow is often busy when the pre-work rush is on, but then quietens down. Which is nice, because this is a lovely little venue, with friendly, chatty staff who are more than happy to discuss the Leeds coffee scene and Leeds generally, full of helpful tips and good advice. There's very limited sitting, but you can perch at a bar stool if you wish to stay in and the one, round table is taken. Otherwise, just grab a coffee – there's a wide array of northern roasters available, from Darkwoods to North Star, and Union is also used from time to time – and hang out or stroll around near the river.
