Lot Sixty One
Kinkerstraat 112, 1053 ED Amsterdam, Netherlands
Editor's Review
Its cornershop is not exactly capacious, but this cafe and roaster in Amsterdam West has brought some Down-Under gravitas to the Dutch coffee scene. Heading Lot Sixty One are Adam Craig and Paul Jenner, two Australian buddies from way back, who before moving to Europe brought their games to New York City and established Variety Coffee and Culture Espresso there. They set up in Old Amsterdam in 2013.
Ever since, Lot Sixty One has been supplying espresso bars across Amsterdam, most conspicuously among the city’s growing crop of Antipodean-run or so inspired breakfast and brunch spots. Besides their fine espresso drinks, the cafe offers several filter options, cold included – a couple Tokyo-style slow drip brewers stand drip-ready on the shelf – and sweets from fellow Aussie businesses Baked in Amsterdam and Drovers Dog. By 2017, the roasting operation got its very own location, in an industrial unit in Amsterdam’s old lumber harbour. The company also has a small outpost within the Urban Outfitters store near Dam Square.
