Loudons Cafe and Bakery
94B Fountainbridge, Edinburgh EH3 9QA, UK
Editor's Review
Fountainbridge can sometimes feel like a passing point, rather than somewhere to stop off. A road between Lothian Road and the west of the city, it’s home to many of the city’s financial services, the start of the Union Canal, and also, a brunch spot that is almost constantly mobbed.
This brunch spot come-cum-bakery takes up a pretty sizeable square footage right on the roadside, and seems to simultaneously be a bustling restaurant, relaxed cafe, and quick-stop meeting spot. All things to all people, and all people come — office workers, students from the nearby Napier hall, tourists. There’s a reason.
Loudon’s have a close relationship with Artisan Roast, and always have two of their coffees on rotation — a house blend and a guest bean, along with a decaf option too. Loose-leaf tea from Pekoe means the slightly less caffeinated brews are great quality too. Everything at Loudon’s is done with extreme efficiency and high quality. Don’t expect those queues to shorten any time soon.
