Lyle's
Tea Building, 56 Shoreditch High St, E1 6JJ
Editor's Review
Although London's specialty coffee movement has progressed rapidly over the past few years, it remains remarkably rare to find quality coffee in a restaurant. Putting aside Caravan with their in-house roastery, Lyle's represents the first restaurant in London to include extremely high standard coffee right from the start.
The coffee is expertly managed by James, whom many will recognise from a number of other quality coffee spots in Shoreditch from Giddy Up Floripa to MacIntyre. He has an impressive range of coffees including Paris's Belleville, Sweden's Koppi, our own Square Mile and others. He offers two daily espressos and three filters along with decaf.
The coffee bar is open from 8am on weekdays and the takeaway should prove popular with those commuting via Shoreditch High Street. But you're better off sticking around. This is one of the most exciting coffee spots to open over the past year and shows that there is still plenty of space left for specialty coffee to conquer.
