The larger Man versus Machine, which lies just south of Munich's central, pedestrianised circle, is a bright, lively venue popular with families as well as coffee connoisseurs. Outside seating is plentiful and popular in clement weather and inside, there's a set of deep bays where you could probably nap if you wanted, or bar stools and a few chairs around upturned boxes for more 'formal' seating. The staff are warm and friendly and happy to chat through the drink options or just pass the time of day.

Coffee comes from the venue's own roastery, marked with its crocodile head labelling, and the roaster itself sits at the back of the café (behind which are a tight set of spiral stairs leading down to the toilet, should you need it). There's a superb 3TEMP filter machine for batch brewing, and other filter methods are available too, as well as espresso-based drinks.
