Mo Beans
57 Easter Rd, Edinburgh EH7 5PL, UK
Editor's Review
Leith is well served for coffee shops, on the bustling Leith Walk, or the cosmopolitan Shore area, but on Easter Road, where Hibs have their home, they’re a little thin on the ground. Mo Beans is a recent addition, and is going from strength to strength. Utilising local roasters Williams & Johnson, whose roastery on Commercial Street is only about a half hour walk away, it’s clear that they’re passionate about what they serve. Don’t be surprised to see other speciality roasters pop up from time to time as the cafe begins to find its feet.
It’s identity already feels pretty well established. A small counter serves up good cakes and sandwiches, as well as some breakfast options, and buffed up wooden tables make for a great working environment — plenty of space for books and laptops, without the feeling you’re crowding anyone else out. Through the back is a more lounge-like area, with armchairs and a couch, if work is the last thing on your mind. Perhaps most important though is the cafe mascot: Nuno, a yellow labrador who greets everyone — we mean everyone — as they walk in, and may occasionally come and sit beside you asking for a pet, to which you should absolutely acquiesce.
